The History of Resorts Casino Hotel
In 1978, 26 May, at 10:00 AM, Resorts International opened for the first time its doors. In the begining, the Resorts was occupied by two three-story wooden rooming houses, The Chalfonte House and The Haddon House. In 1868, Elisha and Elizabeth Roberts have built The Chalfonte House, and it was constructed during the winter (accommodation space: 140 guests). In the same year, Samuel and Susanna Hunt have built The Haddon House, across the street. In the stage of 1920’s, the current Haddon Hall building was constructed. After the merger between the Leeds & Lippincott and adjacent Chalfonte, the new Chalfonte-Haddon Hall complex was the first largest hotel by capacity (with 1000 rooms). In 1976, the Resorts International began planning for a future Atlantic City casino (55 acres – 220,000 m2), in the Atlantic City Boardwalk). For many years Resorts Casino Hotel received a lot of renovations, and now it offers a variety of fine dining restaurants, casual dining restaurants, special venues for events, bars, nightlife clubs, and many others facilities.
